My little girl had blood in her stool at one week old. The ER told me that it could be several things. An allergy to milk, possibly straining while pooping, or anal fissures, which are fairly common in infants. The doctor told us that bloody stool is fairly common for infants. It eventually went away on its own. I breastfeed, and since I'm lactose intolerant, I don't drink or eat much dairy, so I chalked it up to an anal fissure. They just told me to watch it and if it continues, they would do further tests. I did have the diaper tested (yes I saved it and took it to the ER with me), and it came back negative for everything they tested it for. I would just keep an eye on it. I'm betting it goes away on its own.
